She got what she wanted

So yeah, we still have to rock Payton to sleep at night, or at least stay in her room until she is pretty much asleep. That is pretty much getting old ... fast. Tonight I laid her in her crib and tried to leave the room after a few minutes. She cried. And cried and cried. So I went in to tell her to calm down and she had pooped from crying. It breaks my heart but seriously ... the child needs to learn how to go to sleep on her own. I got her a clean diaper and the entire time I can tell she was disgusted with me because the lower lip stayed out. She can pout with the best of them. So feeling guilty {and creating even more sleep issues}, I brought her into my room and laid her in my bed. She immediately flashed me a huge grin and rolled over to go to sleep. Like, "Ha ... I got what I wanted!" She is so dang cute, but such a little stinker!

  1. Don't you just hate how easy it is to give in?! Don't feel bad... I still rock Mary to sleep, too... yep, 3 1/2 years! Talk about getting old!! The problem is that she goes to sleep in like 5 min. when I rock her and it takes almost an hour when I don't. Our kids definitely know how to get what they want!!

  2. Boy can I relate! McKayla does the same thing to me, even down to the dirty diaper... every night! I hate the CIO thing, but that is what several people have suggested to me... I have yet to try that one. If you figure something out that works for you, let me know. Many blessings

  3. Count me in too, I have to rock Ella to sleep too. And if she wakes in the middle of the night the only way she will go back to sleep is in our bed. Dang, they are too cute, you just have to smile : )

  4. Sorry...no help here...my kids sleep with me when they are little and they finally move on out. I can guarentee she won't be in there when she is 18 :) and she will be too big to rock to sleep soon enough. Good luck tomorrow- we will be praying for you!

  5. B-Went through this with both girls. I think when she is ready it will happen. I used preschool as an excuse for Jaceanna. She can't ride the big bus unless she sleeps in her room. Now it's a breeze to get her to go to sleep. Try a routine every night and stick with it. It's tough at first but it will get easier. Kyle and you need some spot to have to yourselves. I learned that the hard way with Todd. I'd get the "look" if I brought her in bed with me.
