For the first 12 days of December, I am hosting the 12 Days of Giving here on my blog. For more information on what this is all about or how you can participate ... click here.
Earlier today, I was browsing through Wish Upon a Hero ... a website that serves as a place for people to post wishes and for others to grant those wishes if they are able. I came across this wish ...

MY WISH: I would like to give a Zhu Zhu to my daughter for Christmas.
My Princess has multiple special needs and has only a few things she can play with. She can't own a "real" pet. I have checked these out and it would be ideal. I just can't seem to find one. I can promise it would have a good home and make a little girl smile A LOT. I can't afford the inflated prices on auction sites so this would be a sweet gift! Thank you!
After reading this person's wish, I was completely intrigued. Number one ... I happen to have two duplicate Zhu Zhu Hamsters, one of which I planned to sell on Ebay, I suppose. Number two ... this little girl has special needs, just like my girls.
Perfect!
After emailing this little girl's mom, I learned that her daughter ... Allison ... has Partial Trisomy 11/22 or Emanuel Syndrome. I also learned that Allison was adopted through Project Cuddle when she was six weeks old.
I was even more intrigued. They adopted Allison ... a child with special needs ... just like we adopted Nika ... a child with special needs.
Isn't it amazing how we were brought together through a wish granting website?
So tomorrow I will package up Mr. Squiggles ... my extra Zhu Zhu Hamster ... and ship it off to Miss Allison. Yay!

That's awesome Bethany! I will admit I have no idea what these zhu-zhu hamsters are- guess I'll have to google it! So neat that you were able to do this for this family!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story ... it's amazing the similarities and the fact that you have an extra zhu-zhu hamster (I have no idea what those are either)! I am looking forward to reading more about your giving experiences and the ways you impact others!
ReplyDeleteoh bethany.. you are the greatest......
ReplyDeleteMan, I hate it when I fall behind on my reader because I want to do this too! Can I start day 1 on day two?! I actually DID give yesterday, so can I just post about it a day late?! haha
ReplyDeleteAmazing.
ReplyDeleteI was able to order a few zhu zhu hamsters on-line. I posted on facebook a few days ago but have not received responses. I'd also like to give one to a child or family who is struggling financially, or with a health issue, who would appreciate this small gesture. Please send me a personal message if you know of a child or family in need. I'll ship anywhere in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to get a retail price with no mark up. I use a site called amzpricesniper.
ReplyDeleteThat's a touching story. Actually, I got my Zhu Zhu Pets at http://www.amzpricesnipper.com. They offer the best low prices ever.
