She is an orphan living in a baby home in St. Petersburg, Russia. The exact same city from which Nika came.
Lera needs a family ... like, yesterday. She had a family committed to adopt her, but that fell through and now she needs another family.
But time is not on her side. At age four, orphans are typically transferred out of baby homes. Lera is 4 1/2 years old ... and by the grace of God, she is still at the baby home.
She has an $8,605 grant in her name through Reece's Rainbow. This is a huge start for any adoptive family. She also has another $2,000 that was raised for her by the first family that planned to adopt her -- they want to give that money to her new family.
Could you be her family?
Lera has Down syndrome. She is reported to be very high functioning and by the looks of her dolly, she is engaged in pretend play. She is reported to have a heart murmur, but no other health concerns.
So ... what do you say? Could you be her family?
For more information, please email Andrea at Reece's Rainbow. Please?!
I'm borrowing this, Bethany... please God let her find a new family!
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful and looks like she could fit it our family! Oh my gosh, if I weren't pregnant, I think I'd be seriously considering....
ReplyDeleteMy heart is just broken for the family that wanted to adopt her....this just makes no sense!!! They love her so much and that is all that should matter.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard that her family fell through :(, if we had the money we would jump at the chance. I think she would be an awesome sister for Addy!
ReplyDeleteCammie...if you are really interested, she has HALF of the cost of adoption raised. There is also a tax credit available to families who adopt in 2010 for up to 12,000. That means if you could come up with the other half needed to complete the adoption in a loan or some other form, you would get it back in 2011 when you file your taxes. Just trying to help if you think it is even a remote possibility! :) She is so precious and someone needs to go rescue her before she is transferred. :( We are in the process of adopting another child from Russia, so we can't...but somebody out there can!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! How incredibly beautiful she is! Look at that little sweet soul. I think I'm in love. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI went to bed in tears last night wanting to go scoop up this little girl and bring her home. The Coffee Guy and I even prayed about it and don't believe she is OUR miracle. I will do what I can to spread the word. We will keep praying that she finds THE family meant for her!
