I am absolutely disgusted and sickened by what our society has condoned. :( As a preschool special education teacher in a public elementary school I would wonder how children learned to discriminate, as I could watch the reactions change based on age. Media has a lot to do with it, as do parents who see nothing wrong with this. I do not have a child of my own with special needs, but my life has been touched and changed by the dozens who entered my life as students, who were for a while My Kids.
It makes me want to throw up, too, my friend...

ReplyDeleteOne by one, we are changing the world. *sigh* We'll get there.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI just found your beautiful blog from Kelly's Korner. So nice to meet you.
Your children are beautiful.
I just watched this and it made me sick too.
I have a son with special needs. He's a young man now. This word has hurt him deeply many times in his life.
When he was called that as a young child, he didn't understand it, now he does.
I wish people would take a minute and think about the words they use.
Thanks for sharing this!
