I'm not sure, I always tend to say things or request things 2-3 different ways, mostly to teach universal language (i.e. someone at school might ask the same thing of them a different way) and because in teaching Nika the English language, I have done this for her. I swear it must just be built into me because I think I do it a lot to make sure they understand, or to get a response from them by using the language they respond best to. I think this will also help with cognitive testing because the test giver will ask them one way and if they are used to hearing that same question another way, then they will fail. And that isn't fair.

Anyway, sorry for the book response. LOL.

This is so exciting for us mostly because with Payton's apraxia, she was not physically able to say some of these words, even if she could have read them a year ago. So now that she has (or has SOME) of both components, we can put it together.

And she was NOT saying PAYTON at the beginning of the school year, so that is new within the past month or two, which I love! I was so nervous about her going into school and having people ask her what her name was and her not being able to respond. Now she can, and she corrects people all the time when they refer to her as a nickname or if they say, for example, "Girlfriend." Haha... she cracks me up.

I think for Payton it has been a culmination of speech therapy, being in school, hearing other kids say her name, etc... it finally put her over the edge to say it. LOVE.

Tips on the name? My son occasionally signs his name and is getting earnest with his desires and saying mine (today in fact he did it lots and as a fluke or what I don't know but he said mom mE VERY clearly) but does WHO ARE YOU? work better than whats your name?

Any other name recognition or prompts to saying it? Maybe our names are tough to say...
